Pathological lying (Pseudologia Fantastica or Mythomania) is when an individual who habitually tells lies so exaggerated or bizarre they are suggestive of mental disorder. "Pathological Liar" is a term usually used to refer to a compulsive liar. These individuals lie out of habit and know no other way. Compulsive liars are generally harmless because their lying does not come with a hidden agenda. However, a Sociopath does.
A Sociopath is a person who's lying is focused. They are goal-oriented and will charm and manipulate others as much as they can with no remorse for what troubles they may cause along the way.
I've known a few compulsive liars in my time, as well as some sociopaths. It's very sad that these individuals had to be this way, but over the years I've come to learn more and more that they just can't help it.
Now, my confusion is what to call someone who is a fusion of both? A compulsive sociopath??
I know two people who fall into this category. One fell a little further down the well than the other, but both have caused quite a bit of damage along the way and have very nasty track records. The one thing that blows my mind though is the fact that they do not even know it. Since it's something they cannot seem to help, they see it as correct and totally normal. In fact, they may not even understand what a lie truly is.
I used to really despise these people...I really did. But then I came to a realization; Why waste my time, my energy, my precious thoughts on people who can't help but be crazy? People who were born mentally disturbed and in all seriousness, cannot be helped? Sure, the occasional rumor I may hear being spread about me and others may be a little aggravating, but in the end I know that no matter what, I'm sane. I'm tooootally sane and healthy and I don't need a security blanket of lies to keep me warm at night. So now, instead of despising these people, I pity them and look at them the same way I would a wounded bird in a yard surrounded by hungry cats.
So sad...

The Great (UNFAIR) Food Truck Race
So, as a lot of you may know by now, Food Network is filming the season finale of The Great Food Truck Race here in Miami this weekend. The two remaining trucks are The Lime Truck from Irvine, California and Hodge Podge from Cleveland, Ohio. They are competing for a grand prize of $100,000 and the winner will be determined by how much food they sell in a city where they have no followers.
Sounds exciting! Seems fair enough right?......WRONG!
Since the moment I found out about this event all I keep hearing about from our local Miami food trucks is Hodge Podge this and Hodge Podge that...Hodge Podge EVERYTHING! I had to go on a major Twitter Mission to find out where the Lime truck was yesterday, and when I finally got to the location (in Midtown Miami) the truck was being towed away!
I find it really unfair and somewhat heartbreaking that sooooo many Miami food trucks promote and support Hodge Podge, but don't utter a word about Lime. They even had Hodge Podge take part in the Miami Lakes Auto Mall gathering last night which was HUGE and you KNOW they made a ton of sales out there and what did Lime get? I little corner in Midtown? Come on! That is BEYOND unfair!
I know that the Podge has friends here in Miami, but try playing fair. Both trucks have to be great if they've made it this far in the game. I believe BOTH should be promoted and supported equally. And if Hodge Podge was invited to the big event last night, Lime should have been too. And apparently they are going to be taking part in the big event over at Tobacco Road tonight as well, but Lime has once again been left out.
I LOVE my Miami food trucks, I really really do. It's something I like to do with my family and friend and always have a great time. I love how they all support each other and work as a team as well as how friendly and appreciative they are with all of their followers. But seriously, this just isn't cool.
I finally caught up with Lime today, outside of the Melting Pot on 157th and Biscayne. My mother and I shared 3 of the 4 items on their menu as well as their berry limeaide and I have to say that their food is phenomenal! Their blue crab and scallop ceviche was the best ceviche I've ever had! And tonight, I'm going to gather up a big group and go out to find them again because their food is more than worth it.
Bottom line, I don't want to bash the Miami food truck scene, but this kind of favoritism is ridiculous. This battle should be about who has the best food, not the best connections.
Sincerely,
A disappointed food truck follower
**UPDATE** The Lime Truck will be in Coconut Grove tonight starting at 7pm! Stop by and show them some love and I will see you all there! :)

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
So, I'm watching a Marathon of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and two episodes in a row show families with disabilities. In one there was a little girl who has a disease that has caused her to loose both of her legs and her right arm. In the other there was a woman who was born with a disorder where she never developed her legs and also only had part of her right arm.
The little girl, though facing all of these physical challenges was a ray of sunshine. She never stopped smiling and laughing and really pushed her self to be able to do everything that he other siblings did. The woman found love and had 4 children. Love didn't last and she continued to raise her children as a single mother, but managed to go to school and never asks anyone for help.
Looking at something like this really makes me think and puts things into a different perspective.
As a superficial and materialistic society we always wish that we can have more and kick and cry and complain when we don't get what we want. We make ourselves sick and suffer over the most minute and ultimately pointless issues. For the most part, we focus on all of the things we don't have or haven't accomplished and completely disregard the things we DO have and are able to accomplish every day with ease.
I'm not going to sit here and lie about how my life is now changed and I'm never going to be ungrateful again, because hey, I'm human. But I will say that it really does make me realize that though times are tough, I am indeed very lucky. We all are. I can only hope that more and more people start to realize this. Life would be so much nicer if people were more happy with themselves.

Things that make you go Hmm...
No matter how elementary the concept, you cannot expect all or even half of society to get it. Some things should just go without saying, but life isn't quite that simple, now is it?
Let's take the Health Care Industry for exaple. It can only be assumed that Doctors and Nurses pursued their careers because of their genuine love of medicine and their passion for helping their fellow humans feel better when they're sick. We understand that the paychecks are nice, but that shouldn't be the only reason why they have chosen these careers. But have any of you actually tried being seen by a Doctor lately? They treat you like you don't really matter. Like you should feel privilaged that they're giving you 5 minutes of their time (and charging your insurance company ((If you HAVE insurance)) $150+) instead of THEM feeling privilaged becaues you chose them as your Doctor out of all of the ones in the world.
Another thing that really kills me about these same Doctors is how they're so quick to sedate. "Here's a pill for this! Here's a pill for that!" A lot of times they really don't care what they prescribe you, as long as there's not a drug-interaction (Google it) they are in the clear and they are getting a nice little cut from the pharmaceutical companies. Have any of you seen those god-awful medication commercials where they give you a solution to your problem but add on the possibility of about 38 other horrible side-effects? A lot of times these side-effects include death. Come on! Is a stroke or cerebral aneurysm really worth you curing your gas problems? Or my favorite; Are the increased thoughts of suicide worth it when you're trying to treat your thoughts of suicide?? Give me a break!
Well, that's it for now! I'm thinking I'll make "Things that make you go Hmm" a reoccurring topic on my Blog.
Thanks for reading! Comment! Follow! Spread the Word!
